Ford Introduces Aluminum Body in the 2015 Ford F-150

The transition from a steel to aluminum body in the new 2015 Ford F-150 has captivated the industry, and brought significantly greater focus to body shop preparedness for new vehicle structures and repair processes. Aluminum is not new to vehicle design, nor is it new to many in the industry who have built their business around certified OEM work for many of the high-line automotive brands; but it does represent a departure from what the industry has faced in mass-produced vehicles such as the long-standing most popular truck in America. With the production line seemingly slated to start filling the long-anticipated need, the industry continues to discuss what is needed to properly address the motoring public’s repair needs and the businesses conditions necessary to support repair facilities’ transition into more specialty lines of repair within their shop.
