SCRS has invited collision repairers to a nearly 50-slide presentation next week into how to handle a BMW 3-Series quarter panel replacement as well as updates on what the organization and local auto body affiliates are doing for the industry.

The educational programs, announced Tuesday by the Society of Collision Repair Specialists, will be part of an April 7 open board meeting ahead of the Collision Industry Conference in Atlanta on April 8-9.

The Education Committee will analyze every step of BMW’s recommended procedures — which involve adhesive and rivets — for replacing the part on vehicles.

“The 48 slide depiction of this panel replacement is a tremendous example of how important it is for collision repairers to establish standard operating procedures that include obtaining and studying the OEM documented procedures,” Education Committee member Toby Chess said in a statement. “It will be eye opening information for anyone interested in documenting the importance of conducting proper repairs, and the unsettling results when they are not adhered to.”

SCRS will also discuss its initiatives and general industry issues, and Georgia Collision Industry Association Executive Director Howard Batchelor will describe what is happening at the regional level.

The entire open meeting, scheduled from 3-5 p.m., is open to the public at large, not just SCRS members. Afterward, members will vote for the organizations’ 2015-16 board of directors. Learn about the candidates here.
