Lafayette, Colo.-based KPA, a service provider for collision repairers and dealerships has become the newest corporate member of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists, KPA and SCRS announced Tuesday.

KPA, a 2012 and 2013 Inc. 5000 member, teaches collision repair and dealership clients how to manage staff, protect assets and handle risk and meet regulators’ demands.

“KPA helps makes collision repair shops safer and better through its environmental and HR consulting and software, and its very business centers on the concepts of education and fostering knowledge which are central to SCRS’ mission,” SCRS Chairman Andy Dingman said in a statement Thursday. “We are very excited to have them on board, and look forward to a long and fruitful partnership.”

KPA’s more than 5,200 clients include eight out of 10 of the nation’s biggest dealership groups, and the business has been endorsed by 26 national and state dealer organizations. SCRS’ members include 6,000 collision repair businesses and 58,500 industry professionals.

“KPA is honored to join the Society of Collision Repair Specialists and looks forward to working with their other members in the months ahead,” KPA President and CEO Vane Clayton said in a statement. “This membership is especially exciting for our team as KPA continues to grow our collision services and expand our software offerings and consultation services to support our collision clients’ needs.”

KPA and the National Automobile Dealers Association also supported the collision repair industry this year with a joint silica dust study. That research, showing that body shop workers aren’t in significant danger from fine silica particles, might persuade federal officials that the industry deserves an exemption from expanded federal scrutiny.

“Our Environmental Health & Safety solutions help over 800 collision centers manage waste and air quality issues, protect their employees from respiratory hazards, save money on workers’ compensation premiums and decrease the time typically required by managers to train employees in the areas of safety and compliance,” Eric Schmitz, KPA Environmental Health & Safety Product vice president, said in a statement Thursday. Schmitz was involved in the silica dust effort.
