One of the final pieces of the SEMA 2015 puzzle has been placed: The Collision Industry Conference has announced its November agenda.

The Las Vegas CIC will be held the mornings of Nov. 3-4 at the Westgate Las Vegas. The usual pricing applies: $65 pre-registration, $75 at the door, with Gold Pin members preregistered.

The event begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, with Chairman Randy Stabler’s opening remarks, which CIC says involve “Removing waste and sharing in the savings.”

The Definitions Committee, which has at past CICs discussed a new benchmark for Class A shops, will discuss “A new standard” from 8:15 a.m. to 9 a.m.

That will follow by an environmental compliance/sustainability discussion at 9 a.m., for which CIC asks, “Are you prepared for what is coming?”

In a somewhat related topic, a paint manufacturer panel will address “The Future of OEM paint finishes in the aftermarket,” next from 9:15-9:50 a.m., according to CIC.

Gene Lopez will discuss the “learning culture” concept at 10:30 a.m. for the Education Committee, an idea which I-CAR has said can make a huge difference in shop performance.

The Governmental Committee will follow at 11:30 a.m., for which CIC tongue-in-cheek asks “What were those politicians thinking?” Shortly after that will come the 11:45 a.m. open mic session, and then you’re done for the day to go attend the rest of SEMA. (Though you might want to return for the CIC 6:30 p.m. reception.)

The day after the Collision Industry Conference, stay in Vegas for the special OEM Collision Repair Technology Summit at the SEMA Show. Part of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists’ Repairer Driven Education Series, the sessions include “Advanced Automotive Technology,” “The Future of Aluminum in the Automotive Industry” and “The Continuing Evolution of Advanced Steels in Automotive Bodies.” There’ll be a heavy emphasis on joining, lightweight materials and the scans necessary to make sure all the new tech works. Register here.

Wednesday, Nov. 4’s CIC will adjourn even sooner, running only from 8-11 a.m. After some brief opening comments, the event will truly get underway at 8:05 a.m. with the CIC Industry Awards.

At 9:05 a.m., Frank Terlep and the Parts and Materials Committee will examine electronic parts procurement. After 15 years, CIC asks, “Are we making progress?”

Toby Chess of the Technical Committee will discuss riveting and bonding at 9:45 a.m., and David Newton-Ross, editor of the Australian National Collision Repairer, will discuss international collision repair at 10:30 a.m.

Rather than just going back to the hotel, craps table or Celine Dion Show, those attending CIC Nov. 3-4 should consider following it those days with the SEMA Show itself (like you need to be told that) and the Society of Collision Repair Specialists’ Repairer Driven Education series. Both run Nov. 3-6.

Unfortunately, some morning SEMA and Repairer Driven Education offerings Nov. 3-4 will compete with CIC, so you’ll have to pick.
