Plan your Anaheim NACE/CIC trip with these highlights

Plan your NACE | CARS trip around these highlights touted by NACE, the Society of Collision Repair Specialists and I-CAR. The official CIC schedule isn’t out yet, but expect it shortly.

As for lodging, try NACE partner onPeak for the days that’ll be valuable to your individual role in the auto body industry. Reservations ended July 22, according to NACE, but we suppose it couldn’t hurt to see if you could still snag a room.

However, onPeak Anaheim, Calif., hotels for the whole week of NACE, the Collision Industry Conference and everything else were filling up and at least one property already had Monday, Aug. 8, booked solid as of last week.

Tuesday, Aug. 9

9-11 a.m.: SCRS Board of Directors open meeting. No RSVP needed; nonmembers welcome too. Highlights include presentations from the California Autobody Association, which has had some news this year on labor rate surveys, and Collision Diagnostic Services on zero-point calibration. 1-5 p.m.; 6:30-9 p.m.: CIC Day 1, reception. Cost: $65 in advance, $75 at door. Details/registration: www.ciclink.com

Wednesday, Aug. 10

8 a.m.-5 p.m.: NACE/CARS educational sessions.

8 a.m.-noon: CIC Day 2.

1-5 p.m..: Don’s Garage/SEMA Garage tours. Transportation provided.  Cost: $15, whether you attend one or both events. Free if you drive yourself. Registration: SCRS invitation here. Details: Jeff Hendler, 509-539-5629 or jeffhen@gmail.com.

1-5 p.m.: I-CAR presentations.

6:30-9:30 p.m.: NACE reception; open to anyone registered for the expo.

Thursday, Aug. 11

8 a.m.-5:30 p.m.: NACE/CARS educational sessions.

8 a.m.-5 p.m.: I-CAR presentations.

8 a.m.-noon: Service Repair Leadership Forum.

9 a.m.-5 p.m.: NACE show floor open.

9:30-11:30 a.m.: Scanning and calibration OEM forum and Q&A. Participating companies: Allstate, Audi, Collision Advice, General Motors, Honda, Nissan, Toyota.

10:30 a.m.-noon: California Bureau of Automotive Repair presentation on alternative OEM parts.

9:30 a.m.-5 p.m: OEM training sessions. Vehicles represented include the 2017 Audi Q7 hybrid, unspecified BMW carbon-fiber, 2016 Cadillac CT6, 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, 2017 Ford F-150 Super Duty2016 Honda Pilot and Honda Civic and unspecified Toyota skills.

1-6 p.m.: MSO Symposium.

Friday, Aug. 12

8 a.m.-4 p.m. Young Technicians Symposium.

8 a.m.-5 p.m.: NACE educational sessions.

8 a.m.-5 p.m.: I-CAR sessions.

9-11 a.m.: California Department of Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones. As noted with the California Autobody Association, he’s been pursuing a formal means of defining market rate surveys and expanding antisteering policy.

9-11:30 a.m.: Technology and Telematics Forum.

9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m: OEM training sessions. Vehicles represented include the 2017 Audi Q7 hybrid; 2016 BMW 7-Series; 2016 Cadillac CT6; 2017 Chrysler Pacifica; 2017 Ford F-150 Super Duty2016 Honda Pilot and Honda Civic, as well as MIG-brazing an unspecified Accord B-pillar; and unspecified Toyota skills.

10 a.m.-5 p.m.: NACE show floor open.
