Any jobs listed on the Society of Collision Repair Specialists’ Career Center will appear on Google’s new Google for Jobs search feature, the trade group announced Thursday.

Hopefully, the increased visibility on the nation’s dominant search engine makes it easier for auto body shop owners to find qualified employees amid a tech shortage.

“The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) is committed to promoting the career opportunities that exist within the collision repair industry, and to connecting individuals seeking rewarding careers with employers who are looking to add to their business,” the trade group wrote in a news release on Thursday. “As such, Google’s mission to help strengthen America’s workforce and better connect employers and job seekers, serves as a valuable addition to collision industry employers.

“We are pleased to inform you that the SCRS Career Center has been fully integrated with Google’s new job search feature. Our partnership in this new initiative is intended to make a significant impact in the way that job seekers in our industry search for and find career opportunities online.”

A search for a generic concept like “auto body repair jobs” immediately brought up Google’s jobs widget on the first page of results, above everything but the paid ads.

The full Google for Jobs interface, which launched in June, seems clean and easy to use.

The SCRS Career Center’s listings also are patched into the Auto Care Careers Industry Job Board, a single site backed by the trade group and the Auto Care Association, Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), Automotive Service Association, National Independent Automotive Dealer Association, Custom Automotive Network and California Automotive Wholesalers’ Association. Any job posted by any one of these organizations can be seen on the others’ job boards, making it a tremendous resource for employers and employees in all facets of the automotive aftermarket.

SCRS touted the prominence of job postings through Google for Jobs and the ability for Google to deliver “a new source of active and passive candidate traffic.” It noted that job seekers might experience “greater exposure to the outstanding career opportunities in the collision repair industry.”

Google in June noted how many organizations it was working with to provide “the most comprehensive listing of jobs.”

“This means you’ll see job postings from these sites and many others from across the web as soon as they’re posted,” Google wrote. “To ensure even more jobs are listed over time, we’re publishing open documentation for all jobs providers, from third-party platforms or direct employers, big or small, detailing how to make their job openings discoverable in this new feature.”
