Lucid opens Position Statement Request Form for repairers

Collision repairers now have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on Lucid Motors repair procedures through a Position Statement Request Form.
Matthew Pitta, Lucid body repair technical manager, said Lucid wanted to give collision repairer repair professionals a way to have a voice in the position statement process.
Lucid was delayed on having position statements ready for its repair network after the launch of Lucid Air, Pitta said. He said it took some time for the company to research effective ways other OEMs provide position statements.
“After we developed the small core of statements that would cover most issues a shop would need a statement for, we wanted to give repairers a way to submit requests for documentation that we may not have thought of,” Pitta said in an email. “Our team is extremely small compared to other OEM’s in the industry (on the Body Repair Technical Team we have 3 Technicians and myself to cover all technical needs of the entire network of Certified Repair Centers in our Lucid Network), and it is a certainty that we are not going to think of every single use case a repair center may need a position statement for.”
Pitta said the request form gives the repair technical team the ability to hear perspectives from repair businesses about how statements might benefit industry communications for future use.
Recently a shop contacted the team through the request form about a wheel repair statement, Pita said.
“The insurance company reviewing the repair order was going to push through unauthorized repairs on a wheel because there was a difference in language between the first paragraph of the published statement, and a paragraph further down the document,” Pita said. “I reached out to the adjuster directly and explained the official Lucid position.”
Pitta said within 30 minutes he was able to update the document and provide a copy to the insurance adjuster.
“I’m happy to say that the revised version left little room for the insurance company to attempt to push forward an unauthorized repair on the vehicles wheel,” Pitta said.
Lucid often hears that repairers feel like they don’t feel like a partner in other OEM repair programs, Pitta said.
“A system like this gives our repair network a way to have their voices heard,” Pitta said.
The form, which can be found here, is open to all repairers, Pitta said.
Currently, Lucid’s repair procedures are found on Lucid Tech Info Portal.
“When Lucid succeeds, so do our approved shops,” Pitta said. “Ultimately, we would like to see other OEM’s utilize similar systems to help shops perform better more complete repairs, to keep our vehicle owners safe in the cars they love.”
