Rivian approves Autel calibration system for certified network
By onAnnouncements
Rivian has approved the Autel 1A900 system for performing “ADAS camera/sensor calibrations and aiming” on its vehicles.
This approval allows for 1A900 to be used throughout Rivian’s Certified Collision Calibration Centers.
Kelly Logan, director of Rivian 3P Service & Collision Programs, confirmed Tuesday that the Autel IA900 has joined the John Bean Trupoint ADAS Calibration System on the list of calibration systems approved for Rivian Certified Collision Centers to work on Rivian vehicles.
“The approval process requires the tooling vendor to collaborate closely with Rivian’s Service Engineering Team to evaluate the ADAS Calibration System’s capabilities,” Logan said. “The equipment must meet all of our vehicle calibration requirements to be considered for approval.”
An Autel press release says their system was approved after thorough and repeatable testing of each calibration type on Rivian R1T, R1S, RCV, and EDV models.
“We are proud that yet another automaker has chosen Autel’s ADAS calibration technology for use in its certified service facilities,” Autel CEO Chloe Hung, said in the release. “Rivian vehicles employ the industry’s most sophisticated and effective driver safety systems. The IA900 was designed to enable technicians to calibrate these vehicles’ sophisticated systems with the same ease and repeatable precision as it calibrates simpler systems.”
The release notes that Rivian’s Driver suite of ADAS systems comprises multiple camera and radar components. It says the Rivian line has consistently received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) highest ratings for vehicle safety, spotlighting the brand’s advanced safety technologies like blindspot monitoring and AI prediction.
Autel claims that its IA900 is the industry’s first all-in-one-4-wheel alignment and ADAS calibration unit. It features six high-resolution positioning and tracking cameras in the frame, enabling frame and target-to-vehicle setup in less than a minute.
To be a Rivian-certified location, centers must meet specific requirements such as being up-to-date on training, specialty tools necessary to perform repairs, and having a convenient location.
