Honda notifies repair network that proof is needed of OEM scans for all collision repairs going forward
By onAnnouncements
American Honda notified Honda and Acura Certified Shops Monday that they are required to provide proof of OEM scans for any Honda or Acura vehicle repairs.
“American Honda has been clear and consistent in its position statements that all vehicles involved in a collision must minimally have a pre-repair and post-repair scan as part of a proper repair,” the email notification says. “It is American Honda’s position that the only way to accurately determine the post-collision status of all Honda and Acura vehicle electronic control systems is by using either i-HDS software or with an OEM scan from an approved diagnostic scanning provider.”
The notice says that, effective immediately, certified shops are required to provide proof of scans by one of three ways:
-
- Shops using CCC One software and one of the four integrated service providers (AirPro, asTech, Elitek, Opus IVS) will have the OEM scan automatically validated upon activating the connection to CCC One, the notification says. It says no further action is required.
- Shops using a service provider other than AirPro, asTech, Elitek, or Opus must upload the OEM scan report on Honda letterhead to the attachment tab of the work file in CCC One. This step also must be done when using i-HDS software.
- Shops not using CCC One software must retain the official OEM scan report on Honda letterhead to provide to Honda when requested.
“American Honda has partnered with CCC to sponsor the use of CCC® Diagnostics Workflow for Honda & Acura certified shops to manage their scan and calibration activity to ensure compliance around these operations,” the notice says.
Once the business activates the connection to one of these providers, CCC is offering those businesses the CCC Diagnostics Workflow at no charge until December 31, 2026, courtesy of American Honda.
An attached marketing sheet for CCC Diagnostic Workflow says it was designed to help repair shops track missing scans, verify completed work, and set consistent pricing regardless of the diagnostic provider.
It notes key features and benefits as:
-
- “Simpler and more reliable process for staff to put the right price on estimates;
- “CCC One prompts drive consistency of operations on estimates;
- “Fewer supplements needed when diagnostic operations are on initial estimates;
- “Visibility across repairs with dashboard to show scan operations;
- “Easier documentation in CCC ONE when using an integrated provider.”
The program also allows repair shops to configure profiles with rates for individual insurance programs or OEM certification requirements, the sheet says. It adds that it prompts estimators to include their desired operation at the agreed-upon price, including calibration recommendations from selected partners.
