The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) has posted its latest “Kool Tools” video in the annual series that highlights tools and resources discovered during the SEMA Show.

The SCRS Education Committee compiles the list. The committee continues what Toby Chess and Kye Yeung started — finding tools that are affordable and make processes easier. Then they test them in their facilities and share their favorites at each SCRS Board January meeting. The 2024 finds were presented this year by Chair Amber Alley, Secretary Kris Burton, and Yeung.

Peel Wheel — Adhesive remover wheel. Easily takes off adhesive “like butter,” Alley said. Burton added it also doesn’t create as much debris as other tools.

NextLED — Auto paint/detailing headlamp. Different settings for natural, bright, etc. light.

RevvADAS Plus — billable ADAS and calibration identification program; won SEMA’s 2024 Best New Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Product

Shaviv by Vargus Mango hand deburring tool — cleans and deburs both sides of panels at one time. “Since we are confined by a certain amount of labor [hours] to do a certain procedure, this tool will be helpful to your bottom line.”

SCRS Executive Director Aaron Schulenburg added there was a change in the 2023 MOTOR Guide to Estimating (GTE) update that states “estimated work times for a component attached with adhesives, welds, and/or rivets include removal of rivets, welds, and weld nuggets and component removal; prepping attachment surface and replacement components; drilling as required; deburring; Pyrosil and adhesive application; EMC screws if required; installing rivets, and welding as necessary.”

Celette aluminum bench and fixtures — three times lighter than steel. “For [mitigating] workers comp [claims], for quickness of setting it up — it’s streamlined it quite a bit and made it a lot more user-friendly and, I think, versatile for your team,” Alley said.
