CCC Intelligent Solutions has joined the AI Governance Alliance (AIGA) — a move that CCC says will influence more effective and transparent AI use.

AIGA is a global multi-stakeholder initiative made up of more than 600 members from 500 industry, academia, government, and non-governmental organizations led by the World Economic Forum (WEF) that was launched in 2023 following the Responsible AI Leadership Summit. According to WEF, AIGA aims to ensure responsibly integrated AI across industries, shape robust regulatory approaches through resilient governance and regulation, drive competitiveness, and advance technical standards to support the safe development and deployment of advanced AI systems.

“Our customers are embracing AI-enabled innovation to modernize operations and better serve their own customers,” said John Goodson, chief product and technology officer of CCC, in a press release. “Joining the AI Governance Alliance is a strategic investment in their journey, helping our customers apply AI more effectively as they prepare their organizations for what’s next. It also supports our broader vision of shaping a world where life just works for our customers and theirs.”

CCC says its participation will also provide it with access to global insights that can help strengthen the value it provides to customers seeking to accelerate their AI journeys.

When asked what responsible AI looks like to them, CCC shared with Reparier Driven News that it means the design, development, and deployment of AI technologies are done in a transparent, fair, and ethical way.

“At CCC, this includes taking steps to detect and mitigate bias, provide model explainability, and monitor model performance over time. CCC believes in these principles and has established a rigorous governance process to guide its development, deployment, and maintenance of applied AI. Beyond a documented governance model and established policies in these areas, CCC also has a dedicated AI Trust Committee to centralize oversight.”

As for what CCC solutions can provide in AI for both the P&C and repair industries, CCC said its solutions “amplify what humans are able to do on their own.”

“For CCC, AI is about helping people do their best work when others need them most. With vehicle complexity, skilled labor shortages, and other macro trends, AI has a significant role to play in improving the productivity and performance of the industry while enhancing the consumer experience.

CCC introduced its first AI application to the market more than 10 years ago… Our AI has been used by customers to process more than 25 million claims and to speed and inform thousands of repair decisions.”

According to CCC, its AI can be found across the claims and repair process in:

    • “Collision repair to jumpstart estimate creation and provide a repair cost range to consumers seeking a quick, initial look into damage on their vehicle;
    • “Claims handling to simplify routine tasks and help customer teams initiate decisions earlier;
    • “Claims management to streamline processes from claim creation to resolution, simplifying time-consuming steps, improving cycle time, and the consumer experience;
    • “In subrogation, to synthesize large volumes of data to help customers improve cycle time and outcomes; and
    • “In auto casualty, to predict impact severity and to help inform the likelihood of injury.”

For more than a decade, CCC says it has been leading the development and deployment of AI solutions that help predict vehicle damage and costs, convert damage photos into line-by-line estimates, generate subrogation demands, identify potential injuries, automate total loss predictions, and deliver data earlier in the claims and repair process.

“As we continue to evolve our platform, AI plays an increasingly central role in how we help customers drive better outcomes at scale,” said Goodson, in the release. “Participating in the alliance allows us to align that innovation with best practices, while staying focused on the industries we know best.”
