The Collision Industry Foundation (CIF) encourages those impacted by recent tornadoes in the South and Midwest, as well as last month’s outbreak in multiple states, to apply for financial assistance for natural disasters.

According to the Associated Press, portions of the South and Midwest from northeast Texas through Arkansas and into southeast Missouri saw violent storms, tornadoes, and flooding last week — killing 21 people — and Monday, some of the same areas faced the potential for more flooding.

“Forecasters attributed the violent weather to warm temperatures, an unstable atmosphere, strong wind shear, and abundant moisture streaming from the Gulf,” the AP article states.

The AP also reports that forecasters have warned of major disruptions to shipping and supply chains, for example, via FedEx, which has a massive Memphis facility in the danger area. Barge transportation on the lower Mississippi River could be affected as well.

Resources are available to anyone who works in the collision repair industry, including individuals who work in shops or supporting roles outside of shops.

CIF doesn’t provide funds for businesses but business owners can apply for funds to cover items like tools they personally owned.

Those wanting to donate to the fund can give a tax-exempt donation to the nonprofit by clicking here. Donations can be made once, monthly, quarterly, or annually. Donations can also be made by texting 734-366-4990.

NBC News reports that a series of Pacific storms will bring “unsettled weather” to the Pacific Northwest and the northern Rockies through mid-week, bringing rain to coastal locations and snow to higher elevations.
