State Farm’s Kinsey becomes IIHS HLDI Board chair

Jeff Kinsey, assistant vice president and actuary at State Farm Insurance Companies, has been elected chair of the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) Board of Directors.

HLDI is an affiliate of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Kinsey succeeds Stefanie Zacchera, The Hartford personal lines data and analytics vice president. She will remain on the board.

“There is no better time than now to harness increasingly advanced data-gathering and analytical tools to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage from motor vehicle crashes,” Kinsey said, in a news release. “I am honored to have the opportunity to work with HLDI leaders and the Board in advancing this important mission.”

David Harkey, president of HLDI and IIHS, said he’s looking forward to working with Kinsey as new resources for member companies are rolled out and the organization’s strategic plan is updated.

The board’s new vice chair is Dawn Lee, chief product and underwriting officer at PEMCO Mutual Insurance Co.

In January, Bill Westrate was elected chair of the IIHS Board for 2024. He is the chair and CEO of American Family Insurance.

Westrate succeeds Scott Wesley Ziegler, who is retiring from Progressive Insurance, where he was general manager of personal lines.

Ginger Purgatorio, senior vice president of product management at Allstate Insurance Group, is the board’s new chair-elect. Brian Deephouse, vice president of insurance underwriting at Auto Club Enterprises, was named vice chair.
