Three recent Database Enhancement Gateway (DEG) Estimating Tips cover how to add an overhaul door mirror feature in Audatex, how to handle stamping or molding defects in replacement parts through CCC, and how to access Mitchell’s P-pages.

DEG’s Estimating Tips are provided weekly on degweb.org under the “Estimate Toolbox” tab.

Some vehicle chapters in Audatex or Qapter Estimating will include the availability of overhaul (OH) on the door mirror. “This will allow repairers to quickly add the O/H feature for repair and refinish scenarios, where a multi-piece component may need to be taken apart and reassembled,” DEG says.

A separate Estimating Tip also covers what to do when additional not-included labor operations need to be added through Audatex.

To quickly add the additional operations, choose the “Additional Labor Operations” prompt in Audatex.

“An example would be when replacing a lower control arm that would require engine R&I as per the OEM repair instructions,” DEG says. “Always reference OEM repair instructions and estimating system footnotes/added labor prompts to see what additional entries may be needed.”

When it comes to imperfections on replacement parts, as noted in DEG Inquiry 21426, CCC says those issues would require “an on-the-spot evaluation” and additional labor time would be included. In the inquiry, on a 2021 Toyota Corolla, the repairer said the bumper cover they purchased was OEM and bought directly from Toyota.

“Upon inspection of the new part, we’re noticing that the mold of the new bumper, particularly the edges, is not shaped perfectly and our paint department must shave these edges down prior to refinishing the bumper,” the repairer said. “Is this labor to correct/repair the bumper edges an included operation?”

The repairer estimated the extra work to shave and sand down the bumper edges would add hours of labor. After its review, CCC established three hours would be appropriate.

DEG says Mitchell MCE users “can quickly open and view component-specific Mitchel CEG/P-Pages from the MCE Application.” Clicking on the link will open up a new browser window.

Non-Mitchell users can access the same information through the DEG Estimate Toolbox under the Mitchell tab.
